The band was born
in Catania from a musical project of Stefano Garaffa Botta and
Carmelo Sciuto. Over the years the collaboration of friends who come
to join such an initiative, characterizes the band's sound in a fundamental
way. Not so easy to classify, Jerica's can swing from noisy structured stuff
through top intimate melodies. Their music is the distillation of their everyday
lives, a vehicle which translates their basic philosophy of life into a continuous
quest for human values.
After the part they played in Lapilli, a compilation set up by Don
Zientara and Joey Picuri (Fugazi and Lungfish producers)
Jerica's got to release their debut album "Two Ships" (Indigena
rec. - Feb '98). Their work is recorded by Agostino Tilotta and
Arturo Zitelli. The cd has received favourable reviews by the specialised
national press.
The band, apart from many shows on its own, has opened for Blonde Redhead,
Uzeda, Aerial M, Dirty Three, thanks to their collaboration
with Indigena (booking and management agency) that has remarkably contributed
to both the artistic and personal growth of the band, beside giving it valuable
moral support. May 2002, Jerica's new work “Edison’s last machine”,
is released.
